Ken Roddam was a key figure in Rallying in Tasmania and beyond for more than 30 years. The image to the left is of Ken in his role as Targa Tasmania Clerk of Course. The 2011 Keith Roddam Memorial Trial will have a total distance of approximately 440 kilometres, comprising special tests in the afternoon followed by 250 km competitive in the forests around the Fingal Valley.
The Event will Start and Finish at Archers Manor, Newnham, 9km. North of Launceston CBD. This was the venue we used during the 2006 BP in Tasmania. Roads will vary from well formed major access roads to very good track & fire-breaks.
To assist competitors without service crews pump fuel will be available at Avoca after 100km (ULP, PULP & Diesel) and at St.Helens after a further 170km (ULP,PULP ,Ultimate and Diesel). There will be a further 170 km to the finish at back at Archers manor. Service crews will also be catered for.
Documentation will be from 11am to Noon, also a chance to book in to accommodation.
Lunch will be available from Noon, followed by Briefing at 1pm, issue of instructions at 1.15, with Car 1 leaving at 3pm.
Alanvale Apartments, adjacent to Archers Manor, are offering discounted accommodation for competitors, service crews and officials. Late check-out will be available on Sunday 29th. There are motel units for around $90 and various self-contained apartments sleeping 4 or 5 persons from $120 to $180.
Competitors & Officials can sail on Friday Night May 27, and return on Sunday Night May 29.
