At the completion of the 2006 Darryl Tunbridge Trial, the organisers were approached by numerous competitors, and committee representatives of both the BLCC and HRA, with the request that another event be run along similar lines in 2007.
Jeff. Stewart & Geoff Boyd, as the key people involved, have therefore put together the 2007 Darryl Tunbridge Trial, which will again be included in championships of both clubs.
The event will this year be based around the BLCC clubrooms, and will take the format of approximately 5 hours of touring, using the “scatterplot” format introduced in 2006.
In a similar manner to last year, distance permitted to be travelled will be a key factor in the results, and the same successful approach of using marked mapped distances rather than relying on individual car odometers will be utilised.
Feedback received in 2006 indicates that this format of event was well received, providing a variation on navigational emphasis, whilst at the same time being both challenging and less stressful than some of the more traditional event types.
With all of this as background, the BLCC issues an invitation to all past entrants, as well as those who have not tried this type of event before, to send in an entry, and be a part of the event on July 8.
As is the usual custom, the very reasonable entry fee includes a BBQ style meal at the completion of the day, along with the chance to relax in the BLCC clubrooms and have a chat before heading home.
