Now that Rally Rally Victoria has finished the rallying focus in Australia turns to the Alpine Rally of East Gippsland. The biggest problem that Alpine Rally organisers are facing is a severe shortage of officials. If you haven't volunteered yet please do so as we are short by about 40% on what we need and Clerk of Course Russell Opie is already considering which stages will have to be cut if we can't get enough people.
There are vacancies for all jobs from Stage Commanders to Road Closure officials so please put your hand up and volunteer yourself for this once in a lifetime opportunity to see Australia's best classic rally cars in the one event. To volunteer just go to theOfficials page on the Alpine website and fill out the form, or contact our officials coordinator Jodi Mann on officials AT alpinerally.org.au but please don't wait, do it now.
The excitement is high as 98 entrants from all over Australia will be lead away by international rallying star Alister McRae in Lakes Entrance on Friday week facing 450km of competitive stages over 3 days. The highlight on the Friday afternoon will be the Koni Toperformance Street Stage in the middle of Lakes Entrance.
Alister McRae has completed the build of his new RS1800 Escort and I can tell you that it looks absolutely stunning in the testing footage I have seen.
