Rich River Route Finalised

The route for the 2007 Rich River on Saturday 18th August has now been finalised. The roads are currently in excellent shape with only some small sections affected by standing water which, in the flat riverplain country, just does not easily drain away!

The route includes a fantastic stage in amongst a pine plantation - a short sharp section (7.85km) that will require slick teamwork. Although route-charted, there are lots of short calls to keep navigators on their toes. Drivers will also be hard at work with several turn hard lefts or rights, a few crests (some may even get some ‘air’) and lots of sand to negotiate!

Another stage includes about a kilometre of some of the tightest road we’ve ever seen. There are also a number of calls in the route instructions to say “Caution – don’t overshoot into river”. The drop into the Murray varies according to the height of the river bank! See new photos of these roads (and others) in the Rich River preview.

Entries for the Rich River are rolling in nicely and many are planning to take advantage of the numerous and varied accommodation options available within walking distance of event headquarters at the Bridge Hotel. See the letter about accommodation options.

Finally, our post event social is taking shape – we’re planning a gourmet BBQ under a rotunda in a superb outdoor courtyard with fire braziers and an outdoor bar that’ll be open till 1am.

Further details about the event are available at the Rich River page.
