Ed Ordynski Guest Speaker at December HRA Meeting

Wednesday December 11, Matthew Flinders Hotel

WE ARE THRILLED to announce that we have the 1990 Australian Rally Champion Ed Ordynski as our guest speaker at the December HRA meeting.

Ed_Ordynski1Ed Ordynski’s stellar career in rallying spanned a continuous 34 years and though other competitors have been in the sport that long, few have spent most of that time at the top of their game.

Four Australian Group N Rally Championships, eight wins in Group N at the World Championship Rally Australia, as well as victory in the 20,000 km, ‘Round Australia Trial, in a three-car team with motor racing legends Peter Brock and Ross Dunkerton, are just some of his outstanding results along with winning the 1990 Australian Rally Championship outright, in a Group N production car.

He has driven V8 Supercars at Bathurst and Sandown, competed in 12 hour races at Bathurst and Eastern Creek with George Fury and Win Percy and coached drivers internationally, including multiple winners of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and national rally championships in Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and here in Australia.

Since retiring from rallying, Ed became known for remarkable feats in energy-efficient driving, including winning the SUV category in the 2009 Global Green Challenge.

Now 64 years of age, after so many years of 24/7 dedication to rallying, Ed is enjoying “life after motorsport” in Clarendon, South Australia where his driving is now limited to his classic cars, being two Datsun 1600s, an HG Holden ute, an MGB, and a 1969 Morris Cooper S.

The HRA meeting will be at the Matthew Flinders Hotel, commencing at 8:00 pm. Meals are available before the meeting.

Come along to see the second to last HRA Gnome raffled off (Gnome number 99). Raffle proceeds all go to charity.
