Author and rally fan Bruce Keys will be our very special guest speaker at the June HRA meeting.
Bruce will talk to us about the stories behind his book, “For Tonight, We Ride”, the rally biography of champion rally driver Geoff Portman.
Bruce will reveal how it came to be and who we can blame for it! The stories of the people who contributed, those behind the scenes who “saw the light and got with the program” and how Geoff was enthusiastic to see the project come to fruition, which sadly was not to be.
There will be some unprintable stories and an insight into the not only the ultimate success of our great mate Geoff Portman but the background struggles he had to get to the top of his game, firstly as a young and enthusiastic Forester in a pretty mild Datsun 1600, then as a far more mature man in the worlds best rally car, an Escort RS 1800.
The June HRA meeting will be on Wednesday 8 June, at the Matthew Flinders Hotel, 667 Warrigal Rd, Chadstone. We meet in the Longitude Room. The meeting starts at 8pm. Meals are available before the meeting.
