HRA Committee News – 22 March 2024

A summary of the HRA Committee meeting from March 22nd 2024

Motorsport First Aid

After some lengthy discussion this proposal has grown to be a full day safety training session starting with ‘First on Scene First Aid’ followed by various sessions on using RallySafe correctly for both competitors and officials. We will seek funding from the 2024 Club Development Fund and make this open to members of all car clubs in Victoria.

Online Membership System

The committee is looking at upgrading to a new automated and online membership system. The advantages of this would be many but for members it gives the ability to have much better access to all sorts of data on club activities and other information as well as the ability to communicate with other members both individually and as a whole. From a management perspective it would give the committee better access to information on our members as well as reduce the workload for the Membership Secretary. This is an ongoing project but we would like to be able to start implementing the results in the second half of this year.

VRAP Report

  • The Awards Ceremony for the 2023 season is to be held at the Manningham Hotel on April 6 at 6pm. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.
  • Scrutineers are looking at enforcing a ruling regarding the use of fire bombs in rally vehicles constructed after 1 January 2000. (Manufacture date not the date the car was logbooked)
  • Work is being done with Vicroads to try and bring the Rally Plate system more into line with some of the provisions of the Historic Club Plate system. This is an ongoing discussion.

Events

  • We have preliminary discussions happening with a council in Gippsland about an event proposal to be run entirely on Shire roads and include a bitumen ‘Super Special’. These discussions are ongoing with a view to running the event in 2025.
  • So far we have two event proposals for Touring events for next year.
  • Other than the above there are no other events planned or proposed for next year.
  • As a club we need to be developing the next group of younger people to start organising events as many of the current organising teams are starting to retire. This is a major issue for all clubs in Victoria, not just the HRA.

A reminder that if members want further information or wish to table items for the Committee to consider in the future please send me an email to president@hra.org.au.
